[edit] Triggerfish Brewing
We,ve decided on a name for the commercial brewery "Triggerfish Brewing" and our beer will become available earley in the new year.
And now there's a logo:

The small brewery arrived from Charlotte and we've done 4 successful brews. Blond Ales remain a crowd pleaser and the new Oatmeal Stout recipe goes down well. We are challenging local pallettes with our Cascadian Dark Ale, a Balack IPA containing 120 grams of hops in a 20 liter batch.
I was very fortunate to get two 200 liter copper geysers from my friend Jannie in Pretoria and a 160 liter conical fermenter from Stephan Meyer at Clarens Brewery. If all goes to plan we'll have a batch of blonde ale in the new brewery next week.
[edit] The next Chapter: Somerset-West
July 2010
We are very fortunate to have been re-located back to South Africa. With the Waxhaw brewery in the container bound for Cape Town we'll be brewing up a storm over here as soon as it arrives.
The container is here, the brewery unpacked and the decision to "go large" made. Picked up the vessels for a new 300l brewery in Pretoria yesterday so watch this space!

[edit] Babania in Waxhaw
July 2009
We relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in the USA in July 2009. My old 40l brewery was sold and replaced with the new 20l US version improved with the hindsight and aided by the availability of components. It was not as easy as expected to build the new within the old budget as I sold the first brewery for what it cost and tried to stay in that budget.
BB_USA is up and running now and I will share my brewing experience on the wiki. You can reach me on the discussion forum or in the wiki with any questions or comments.

[edit] Getting into homebrewing
Babania Brewery started as a result of a number of up-country friends who convinced us that brewing your own beer fits in with the general anti-establishment idea, it costs less and tastes better than a lot of our commercial offerings.
I decided that full grain was the way to go and started designing a 40L single tier brewery using some items that I had and then began buying parts here and there.
Stephan Meyer from Clarens Brewery and Andre de Beer a dedicated Worthog homebrewer gave lots of input and must really be tired of all my calls. In any case with their help, the tons of information homebrewers shared on the web and a bit of head scratching and drawing I started assembling the brewery in September 2008 with a goal to drink my own beer on my birthday at the end of October.
The building phase took a bit longer than anticipated with a US trip in the middle and I missed the deadline by 2 weeks. Not bad I'd say.
[edit] About Us
Eric(that's me), Willa, 3 kids, 8 cats and Annabelle our St. Bernard reside on a small farm near Philadelphia between Cape Town and Malmesbury. I currently brew in the garage with plans to move the brewery into a store room that needs some serious fixing up before that will happen.
The name is from the pink "Bobbejaantjie" flower that's endemic to this area and one of (if not the only) populations on our farm. I also feel like a baboon with all the new information and things to learn.
Update
We now live in Cahrlotte, NC in the USA. All sorts of new experiences and beers in this country and still getting used to it all.
